Infosys Public Services CEO missing after Nepal floods; hundreds unaccounted for

Lax Gopisetty, the chief executive officer of Infosys Public Services, remains unreachable in the wake of devastating flash floods that struck Nepal on August 26. The disaster has left hundreds of people missing, and Gopisetty was reportedly in the region in a personal capacity at the time.

Infosys confirmed Gopisetty's status in a statement, emphasizing that his safety and well-being are a top priority. The Bengaluru-headquartered company is in close communication with Gopisetty's family and is collaborating with relevant agencies to gather information and establish contact. "We remain in close communication with the family and are providing all necessary support during this difficult time," the statement read.

The floods, originating from the Bhote Koshi River, have had a significant impact, with a large number of Indian nationals and individuals of Indian origin reported missing. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, as of Saturday evening, 287 Indian nationals and 128 persons of Indian origin were unaccounted for. Earlier that day, four Indian nationals were rescued from a hydropower project in Nepal's Rasuwa district and taken to Kathmandu.

Gopisetty, who has over three decades of experience in both public and private sectors, previously held roles such as global vice president at Infosys and Managing Director at Accenture. His expertise lies in strategy, technology, operations, and transformation, particularly in supporting public sector agencies. The company expressed deep sadness over the floods and the loss of lives, extending thoughts to Gopisetty and all those affected by the tragedy.
