Ingebrigtsen and Kerr Set for Super Duel in Budapest

A thrilling showdown is set to ignite the track at the Ultimate Championship in Budapest as Norwegian Olympic champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen and British rival Josh Kerr prepare to face off in the 1500-meter race. The event, taking place from September 11-13, will host a highly anticipated rematch between the two athletes who have engaged in a notable rivalry both on and off the track.

Kerr, the reigning world champion from 2023, recently set a new world record in the mile at the London Grand Prix in July with a blistering time of 3:42.66. Ingebrigtsen, the 2021 Olympic champion in the 1500 meters, is already qualified for the 5000 meters as the defending Olympic champion. This championship will see him compete in both distances.

To accommodate the intense rivalry, the 1500-meter field has been expanded to 13 runners, including other strong contenders like U.S. Olympic winner Cole Hocker and Portugal's reigning world champion Isaac Nader. The Ultimate Championship offers a substantial total prize pool of $10 million, adding further incentive for these elite athletes to deliver a spectacular performance.
