Inmate who escaped during judicial outing in La Paz recaptured

Authorities in Bolivia have recaptured an inmate who escaped during a court-authorized judicial outing in La Paz. The prisoner, identified as A.B.M.F., was located in El Alto several hours after his escape on Friday night. According to the Ministry of Government, the inmate had been granted permission to leave the San Pedro prison on July 24 to conduct official business at facilities belonging to Banco BISA and Banco Unión. The judicial order stipulated his return to prison after completing these tasks. However, while attending to these errands in the city center, the inmate evaded police custody and fled. Following the escape, the Special Police Investigation Center (CEIP) initiated an operation across various sectors of La Paz and El Alto, which ultimately led to the fugitive's capture near the Zona 12 de Octubre around 11:30 p.m. on Friday. The Ministry of Government confirmed that the inmate has been returned to San Pedro prison. An investigation has been launched to thoroughly examine the circumstances surrounding the escape and to identify any individuals responsible for allowing it to happen.
