Instagram user investigated for 'insulting public official'

Ankara's Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has initiated a formal investigation into an Instagram user operating under the alias 'Kuzey' for allegedly insulting a public official. The probe was launched proactively by the prosecutor's office upon identifying the content.

The investigation stems from video content shared on the Instagram account '@kavrukkuzey'. The prosecutor's office stated that the expressions within the video content could constitute the crime of insulting a public official based on their duty, as defined by Article 125/3-a of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK). Additionally, the content may fall under Article 301 of the TCK, which addresses the offense of insulting the Turkish nation, the Republic of Turkey, and its state institutions and bodies.

Following the initiation of the investigation, the prosecutor's office has issued instructions for the identification and apprehension of the suspect. The primary focus is on the charge of insulting a public official in the course of their duties.
