Inter Miami Appoints 'Kily' González as New Coach Amidst Results Crisis

Inter Miami has named Cristian Alberto 'Kily' González as its new head coach, signaling a change in leadership as the club navigates a difficult period. González, who has been without a team since leaving Platense in October 2025, brings experience from previous playing stints with clubs like Real Zaragoza, Valencia, and Inter Milan.

The Argentine manager will assume his new role once the necessary work permits are obtained, according to a club statement. Until then, Guillermo Hoyos, the departing coach, will continue to manage the team from the sidelines. The club has not clarified Hoyos's future role within the organization.

Hoyos took over the coaching position last April, succeeding Javier Mascherano, who resigned for personal reasons after leading Inter Miami to an MLS Cup victory. Hoyos, previously the club's sporting director, initially saw a strong run of wins. However, recent results have declined, marked by elimination from the Leagues Cup and a winless streak in Major League Soccer (MLS).

Adding to the team's challenges, the MLS has sanctioned Hoyos with a one-game suspension for repeatedly violating the league's policy on late match starts. This means he will not be able to manage the team in their upcoming match against Montreal. Inter Miami currently sits second in the Eastern Conference with 39 points, trailing Nashville by 10 points after a recent 4-1 defeat.
