Inter Miami signs Casemiro amid MLS tampering probe

Inter Miami has announced the signing of Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, a five-time Champions League winner, on a deal through the 2027 MLS season with an option to extend. However, the club faces an investigation by Major League Soccer over a "tampering allegation."

MLS stated it is gathering all relevant information and will refrain from further comment until the review is complete. The league confirmed Inter Miami and the LA Galaxy reached a settlement regarding Casemiro's discovery rights, but the terms will remain undisclosed pending the investigation's conclusion. Under MLS rules, clubs must negotiate discovery rights with any team that previously listed a player before signing them as a free agent or outside the draft.

The Galaxy had held the rights to Casemiro before he chose to join Miami. The league has not specified potential penalties or a timeline for the investigation. Casemiro, 34, previously had a successful stint at Real Madrid, winning five Champions League titles, before moving to Manchester United in 2022, where he helped the club win the English League Cup and FA Cup.
