Inter Milan beats Manchester City on penalties after 1-1 draw in Hong Kong friendly

Manchester City and Inter Milan played to a 1-1 draw in a friendly match in Hong Kong, with Inter ultimately securing a 3-1 victory in the penalty shootout. This match marked the first friendly under new Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca.

Hrvatski international players Joško Gvardiol and Mateo Kovačić started for Manchester City and played the entire first half. Inter's coach Christian Chivu did not field Croatian player Petar Sučić in this encounter.

Mana City took the lead in the 14th minute with a goal from 21-year-old forward Divin Mubama, assisted by Antoine Semenya. Inter equalized just six minutes later, with Benjamin Pavard scoring the goal. The score remained tied until the end of regulation time, leading to the penalty shootout.

In the shootout, Manchester City's first three penalty takers missed the target, with only Claudio Echeverri converting his shot. Inter's goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma saved a penalty from Davide Frattesi, but it wasn't enough as Piotr Zielinski, Mattia Mosconi, and Matteo Lavelli all scored for Inter. Inter will play two more friendlies in Perth, Australia, against AC Milan and Juventus before their Italian league season begins on August 22. Manchester City will also play further Asian tour matches in Seoul against an All-Star team from the South Korean league and against Atletico Madrid.
