International Congress in Pilar Debates Education, Technology and Development

Academic specialists from five countries gathered at Paraguay’s National University of Pilar for a congress focused on education, technology and development.

The ninth International Congress of the Network for Strategic Management in Higher Education took place at the university’s Faculty of Sciences, Technologies and Arts. Representatives of academic and research institutions from Azerbaijan, India, Canada, the United States, Argentina and Paraguay took part.

The discussions ranged from international trade and livestock production to emerging technologies and cooperative production systems. Participants also examined professional training and the needs facing society today.

Víctor Riveros, dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development, said such meetings complement conventional classroom education. “These congresses fill gaps that cannot be covered in classrooms every day,” he said, emphasizing the exchange of knowledge and experience between specialists and students.

Paz particularly highlighted engineering education and the creation of employment opportunities in the field. He said engineers play an important role in scientific and technological development, while Paraguay’s agricultural and livestock potential is increasing demand for trained professionals. As production adopts more technology, he said, universities face the challenge of preparing graduates who can support that process.
