International Sambo Competition Held in Bishkek Honors Legendary Coach

Bishkek recently hosted a significant international Sambo competition, drawing over 100 young athletes from across Kyrgyzstan and neighboring countries. The event, held at the Dynamo sports complex from April 18-19, was not just a display of athletic prowess but also a tribute to a legendary figure in Kyrgyz sports.

The competition was dedicated to the memory of Nikolai Mikhailov, a distinguished master of sports in Sambo and Judo, and an honored coach of the Kyrgyz Republic. Mikhailov was also recognized as an international-class referee. His legacy was honored by the presence of his friends and colleagues at the opening ceremony, including Nurlan Tokonoev, the honorary president of the Sambo Federation, and Habibulla Anarkulov, an honored Sambo coach.
