Intoxicated Man Dies After Being Hit by Car in Seoul

A man in his 40s tragically lost his life after being struck by a vehicle in Seoul's Daechi-dong neighborhood early on August 1. The incident occurred around 12:35 a.m. when the man, who was reportedly intoxicated, entered the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene by arriving paramedics.

The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 30s, has been taken into custody and is being investigated by the Gangnam Police Station on charges related to causing death by negligence under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Settlement of Traffic Accidents. The driver reportedly stated that he could not see the pedestrian clearly before the collision.

Preliminary police investigations have found no signs of alcohol or drug impairment in the driver. Authorities are continuing to investigate the precise details and sequence of events that led to the fatal accident. The deceased was identified as having entered the road while under the influence of alcohol.
