IOC Ethics Commission Rejects Complaint Against FIFA President Gianni Infantino

The Ethics Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has dismissed a complaint lodged against FIFA President Gianni Infantino concerning alleged breaches of political neutrality rules.

The complaint was submitted in early July by the human rights organization FairSquare, which accused Infantino of multiple violations. A spokesperson for the IOC stated that the commission determined the matter did not fall within its jurisdiction, citing the Olympic Charter's principle that each international sports federation maintains its own independence and autonomy.

According to FairSquare, evidence presented suggested five clear violations of the IOC's neutrality regulations, with additional indications of two more infractions. The organization's grievance centered on Infantino's public displays of support for Trump, which they argued compromised his adherence to the IOC's ethical guidelines.

This decision by the IOC Ethics Commission effectively closes the case brought forth by FairSquare, upholding the autonomy of international sports federations in managing their internal affairs and leadership conduct.
