IPDN Rector Inspects Venue for 2026 Kalimantan Regional Government Awards

The venue for the 2026 Outstanding Regional Governments Appreciation event in Kalimantan should reflect the purpose of the awards rather than luxury, IPDN Rector Halilul Khairi said after inspecting the site in Balikpapan.

The event will take place Thursday at Hotel Platinum and is organized by Indonesia’s Ministry of Home Affairs, with the Institute of Domestic Government, or IPDN, serving as organizer. Khairi said preparations needed to be handled carefully because regional heads from across Kalimantan would attend.

The awards will be based on regional governments’ facts and achievements. Khairi said recipients could use the recognition to tell residents that they had delivered results, while also stressing that local governments should provide the best possible public services whether or not they receive an award.

The gathering is expected to include the five governors of Kalimantan and provincial leadership coordination forums, as well as regents and mayors. It will also feature a coordination meeting between the provincial forums and the coordinating minister for political, legal and security affairs, intended to strengthen coordination between regional and central governments as they address challenges.
