iPhone Prices Soar in Turkey, Drop in Japan: Global Price Ranking Revealed

The price of an iPhone can differ dramatically depending on the country of purchase, with factors like taxes, import duties, and currency conditions significantly impacting the final cost. While Apple aims for global pricing strategies, consumers in certain nations face substantially higher prices than others.

According to data citing Deutsche Bank's 2026 analysis of the iPhone 17 Pro (256 GB) across 41 markets, Turkey leads the list with the highest price at $2,592. This is over $1,400 more than the U.S. price of $1,181. Brazil follows at $2,260, and Egypt at $1,872.

Europe features prominently in the higher price rankings, partly because listed prices often include value-added tax (VAT). VAT rates vary widely across the continent, from 27% in Hungary to just over 8% in Switzerland, creating considerable differences in the retail price.

Conversely, Japan offers the iPhone 17 Pro (256 GB) at the lowest price globally, $1,121, slightly undercutting U.S. prices. This is attributed to a low 10% consumption tax, strong domestic competition, and Apple's established pricing. However, recent currency shifts have led Apple to increase some prices in Japan.

These global price rankings are not static. Fluctuations in currency values, adjustments to tax policies, and changes in import regulations can quickly alter which countries offer the most affordable or expensive iPhones.
