Ipswich-Liverpool 0-2: Isak strikes twice as the Reds finally win

Alexander Isak scored twice in nine minutes to give Liverpool a 2-0 win at Ipswich and finally deliver the Reds’ first Premier League victory of the season.

Liverpool made a fast start, opening the scoring in the sixth minute. Kerkez won possession before Cody Gakpo beat his marker and played a through ball to Isak. The striker finished with a powerful diagonal shot to make it 1-0.

Three minutes later, Gakpo produced another excellent assist, this time with an outside-of-the-foot pass. Isak went one-on-one with goalkeeper Arijanet Muric, wrong-footed him and calmly finished for his second goal.

Liverpool had chances to extend the lead. Dominik Szoboszlai threatened twice from distance, but Ipswich’s goalkeeper kept the score down. The hosts came close in the 30th minute through a double chance for Julio Enciso and Leif Davis, but could not find a goal.

The pace dropped after halftime as Liverpool focused on protecting its advantage. Ipswich created no serious danger, and Liverpool reached the final whistle without major difficulty. The result leaves behind two earlier draws with Newcastle and Nottingham Forest. Bradley Barcola also came on to make his debut for Liverpool.
