Iran has not compromised on any clause of MoU: President Pezeshkian

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has affirmed that Tehran has upheld all clauses of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) negotiated amid efforts to de-escalate tensions with the United States and Israel. Speaking at an event marking Doctors' Day, Pezeshkian stated that Iran's decision to sign the MoU stemmed from a belief that war yields no positive outcomes. "We are not going to bow our heads and give in to the enemy. We can solve our problems with strength but with logic," he remarked, according to Iran's IRNA news agency.

We signed the memorandum of understanding because we believe that we cannot achieve anything through war.

Pezeshkian emphasized that the MoU was unanimously supported by all members of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, rejecting any claims of compromise. "There is not a single clause in the memorandum that we have compromised," he asserted. He also called for internal unity, suggesting that Iran must move beyond a state of "neither war nor peace." The President further indicated that Iran's late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, had endorsed this strategic direction.

These statements come at a time of heightened tensions between Iran and the US, particularly concerning economic sanctions and maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz. In parallel, Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, issued strong warnings. He declared that the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed until the US alters its behavior and fulfills its commitments. Rezaei also accused US President Donald Trump of creating "nuclear insecurity" and cautioned neighboring countries against participating in the US-led economic campaign against Tehran, threatening to consider them enemies and target oil routes if they complied.
