Iran Intercepts Two Oil Tankers in Strait of Hormuz

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Friday that it had intercepted two oil tankers attempting to transit the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC claimed the tankers were fired upon and halted for failing to comply with unspecified requirements.

According to the IRGC's statement, four other oil tankers in the vicinity hastily altered their courses and returned to their previous positions. The incident took place in the vital waterway, with reports indicating that US military aircraft were present and escorting the targeted vessels.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical chokepoint for global oil transport, with a significant portion of the world's crude oil passing through it daily. Tensions in the region have been high, and such incidents often raise concerns about maritime security and the potential for escalation.
