Iran lashes out at Italy for providing 'technical and logistical' support to US during war

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baqaei, strongly criticized Italy on Sunday for allegedly providing "technical and logistical" support to the United States during its war against Iran. Baqaei described Italy's actions as a "blatant act of aggression" and a serious violation of international law.

This is a glaring contradiction and a fellacious argument aimed at evading responsibility for complicity in a grave internationally wrongful act: publicly denying any aid or assistance to the aggressors, while openly acknowledging the "technical and logistical" support that enabled and facilitated the unlawful American-Israeli war of aggression against Iran.

In a post on X, Baqaei stated, "This is a glaring contradiction and a fellacious argument aimed at evading responsibility for complicity in a grave internationally wrongful act: publicly denying any aid or assistance to the aggressors, while openly acknowledging the 'technical and logistical' support that enabled and facilitated the unlawful American-Israeli war of aggression against Iran." He emphasized that providing such support constitutes a direct contribution to an illegal war.

Earlier, Italy's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, had a phone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi. Tajani clarified that Italy has never participated in any military initiative against Iran nor authorized the use of its bases for war actions against the country, asserting strict adherence to treaties with the United States.

During the call, Tajani requested a return to the full opening of the Strait of Hormuz to facilitate the passage of blocked Italian cargo ships.
