Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has accused the United States and Israel of trying to weaken Iran by dividing its society and spreading distrust, fear, and despair. The Supreme Leader warned that pessimism and discouragement among the population would amount to indirect support for the country's adversaries.

"Any action that causes distrust and discouragement among the Iranian people is considered a form of support for the enemy of this country and its people," Khamenei declared. His message was read during ceremonies marking the death of the Islamic Republic's founder, Ruhollah Khomeini, and a significant Shiite holiday.
