Iran says it struck US base in Jordan with ballistic missiles

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard says it launched what it called a “destructive” ballistic-missile attack against US forces stationed at Al Azraq in Jordan, describing the operation as retaliation for US strikes on Iranian oil tankers.

The IRGC said large numbers of solid- and liquid-fuel missiles struck areas used to maintain, prepare and deploy F-35, F-16 and F-15 fighter jets. It also claimed that the aircraft hangars were targeted and suffered heavy damage.

The statement, broadcast by the semi-official Tasnim news agency, called the operation a “decisive and painful” attack. Israel’s Channel 14 also reported a direct strike on the US base in Jordan. Another Israeli media outlet claimed that more than 50 Patriot interceptors were launched from the Zarqa base to counter the attack.

The IRGC said its confrontation with the United States would continue until attacks on Iran stop. “The confrontation will continue until the enemy’s attacks are halted, and the battle will continue until then,” it said.
