Meanwhile, a proposal reportedly from US President Donald Trump suggests a return to negotiations between Washington and Tehran. This initiative, according to a regional official involved in mediation efforts cited by the Associated Press, aims to address stalled progress and reopen key channels of communication. The proposal reportedly includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz and halting regional attacks, including those by Iranian-backed militias in Iraq against Persian Gulf nations and Jordan.

In exchange for these measures, the United States would reportedly lift its naval blockade on Iran, permitting Tehran to resume oil exports under terms of a tentative ceasefire. While no final agreement has been reached, ongoing mediation efforts are focused on de-escalating tensions and restoring stability in the region.
