Iran Warns Ukraine Attack ‘Will Not Go Unanswered,’ Reiterates Military Threats

Tensions between Iran and Ukraine escalated sharply Sunday as Iran's Deputy Parliament Speaker Ali Nikzad issued a stern warning that Ukraine's alleged attack on an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea "will not go unanswered."

Nikzad's remarks followed Iran's summoning of Ukraine's chargé d'affaires in Tehran, where Kyiv was formally accused of attacking the vessel. "Iran will always exercise its legal right to defend its territorial integrity," Nikzad declared. "Any location used as a launching point for aggression against our country and territory will undoubtedly be considered a legitimate target for our armed forces, and the Ukrainian government's reckless action will not go unanswered."

The senior Iranian lawmaker extended his warnings beyond Ukraine, cautioning Britain and Bulgaria against supporting U.S. military operations targeting Iran. He asserted that any territory used to launch attacks on Iran would be deemed a legitimate military target.

Furthermore, Nikzad addressed the maritime situation, stating that the rules governing navigation through the Strait of Hormuz would not revert to their pre-war status. He also reiterated calls for U.S. forces to withdraw from the region.
