Iranian interior minister meets PM Shehbaz in Islamabad

Iran's interior minister, Eskandar Momeni, met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday, according to an X post by the PM's Office. The meeting took place as Pakistan continues its diplomatic efforts to revive a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the conflict between the US and Iran.

This visit comes at a critical juncture, with hostilities between the two nations recently intensifying. State-run Pakistan TV reported that Momeni, who arrived Monday night with a high-level delegation, would also meet with Pakistan's Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of the Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. Earlier reports suggested Momeni might engage with Pakistani officials who previously mediated a now-collapsed interim ceasefire.
