Iranian Interior Minister to visit Pakistan amid Middle East tensions

Iran's Interior Minister, Eskandar Momeni, is scheduled to visit Pakistan for a two-day trip commencing Monday. The visit comes as the region grapples with escalating tensions in the Middle East, particularly concerning the conflict between Iran and the United States, a situation where Pakistan has played a significant diplomatic role.

Momeni will lead a high-level delegation comprising senior officials from various Iranian ministries. During his stay in Islamabad, he is expected to hold meetings with key Pakistani leaders. While specific agenda details remain undisclosed, the visit is poised to address regional security and bilateral cooperation.

According to Iran's official news agency IRNA, the delegation will include officials from the ministries of Agriculture; Industry, Mining and Commerce; Roads and Urban Development; Foreign Affairs; and Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts. This broad representation suggests a comprehensive agenda aimed at enhancing collaboration across multiple sectors.

The visit follows a recent meeting between Momeni and Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Tehran. Naqvi, who had traveled to Iran for the funeral of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, welcomed the upcoming delegation's visit, expressing pleasure that Momeni would lead it. Pakistan has been actively involved in facilitating dialogue between Tehran and Washington and is seeking to strengthen its own ties with Iran through high-level exchanges and economic cooperation agreements.
