Iraq Tightens Security Amid Reports of Planned Iran-Backed Attacks on Saudi Arabia

Iraq is bolstering its security measures to prevent any cross-border attacks targeting neighboring nations, according to military spokesman Sabah Al-Numan. This action comes in response to intelligence suggesting that Iran-backed militias are planning imminent strikes against Saudi Arabia. Al-Numan stated, "We will not allow any attack from inside Iraq targeting any neighboring country." The remarks were made after a senior Saudi official informed Reuters about the coordinated efforts between Iraqi militias, Yemen's Houthis, and Iran's Revolutionary Guards. Saudi Arabia has reportedly increased its security posture, particularly concerning energy facilities, ports, and airports. Intelligence shared by Saudi Arabia, the U.S., and regional partners indicates a possibility of coordinated attacks in the "very near future." The official noted that authorities have observed meetings involving Iraqi militia members, Houthi fighters, and Iranian Revolutionary Guard personnel, alongside movements of drones and missiles. Saudi Arabia has vowed to take all necessary measures to counter these threats while simultaneously pursuing efforts to de-escalate regional tensions.
