Ireland flyhalf Crowley sidelined until new year with injury

Ireland's promising flyhalf, Jack Crowley, faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines, with his club Munster confirming he will not return to play until the new year. The injury, a lower limb vascular issue, has kept the 26-year-old out of action since April.

Crowley's absence is a significant blow for both his provincial club and the national team. He had recently secured the Ireland number 10 jersey, displacing Leinster rival Sam Prendergast for the final three games of the Six Nations Championship. His return to full fitness is now the priority for Munster and Ireland.

Munster's head coach, Clayton McMillan, emphasized Crowley's importance, stating, "Jack Crowley is a very important player for Munster and Ireland with a big future in the game and ensuring he gets back to 100 per cent is the priority." The flyhalf's unavailability will affect Munster's opening matches in the European Champions Cup and the United Rugby Championship.

Furthermore, Crowley will miss Ireland's upcoming Nations Championship fixtures against Argentina, Fiji, and South Africa. The national team had a mixed record in their recent July internationals, with wins against Australia and Japan but a heavy defeat to New Zealand.
