Irish boxer Lee Reeves hospitalized after 10th-round knockout defeat

Irish boxer Lee Reeves is hospitalized in critical but stable condition following a 10th-round knockout defeat to Gary Cully. The bout for the vacant BUI Celtic super-lightweight title took place Saturday night at Dublin's 3Arena. Reeves, a 31-year-old fighter from Limerick, was stretchered from the ring and immediately taken for medical treatment. Queensberry Promotions confirmed on Sunday that Reeves remains in a serious condition. "Lee Reeves is still in hospital, in a critical but stable condition," a spokesperson for the promotion stated. "We will know more in the coming days, and our thoughts and prayers remain with Lee and his family." Cully, who secured the victory with the late stoppage, paid tribute to his opponent. "Hopefully he’s okay," Cully said. "He came in there as a big underdog after fighting relatively at a lower level up until now, but he really showed that he can operate at a higher level. Huge credit to him." Promoter Frank Warren also conveyed support, stating that everyone at Queensberry Promotions is thinking of Reeves and his family and remains in close contact with his team. The fight was part of the undercard for Pierce O’Leary's bout against Mark Chamberlain.
