Irish media report death of 18-year-old killed in Iceland crash

Irish media have turned their attention to the death of Hannah Jane Large, an 18-year-old from Greystown who was one of three young people killed in a serious crash on Iceland's Krýsuvíkurvegur road early Monday.

A local outlet in Greystown was the first Irish media organization to report the death. It said a memorial service for Large would be announced the following day and conveyed condolences to her parents and younger brother.

Ireland's foreign service is aware of the case and is providing appropriate advice, according to Ireland's public broadcaster, RTÉ. Both outlets also reported condolences from Icelandic President Halla Tómasdóttir to the victims' families.

Large's mother responded to the president's message: "Thank you for the statement. My daughter, Hannah from Ireland, was one of the victims of this tragedy. She fell in love with your country, she loved the people, and her last days were the happiest of her life. That is the only comfort we have and hold on to. We spoke to her that evening and she was full of joy. It is terrible that she has left her brother and us behind."
