Irish musician Eithne Vallely, 81, dies in NI collision

Tributes are being paid to Eithne Vallely, a celebrated traditional Irish musician, who died at the age of 81 following a road collision in County Armagh. Ms. Vallely passed away after being struck by a lorry in the Portadown Road area on Friday morning.

She co-founded the Armagh Pipers Club with her husband, Brian, passing on her love for the art form to her children and inspiring countless others. SDLP Armagh Councillor Thomas O'Hanlon remarked on her significant contribution to the cultural and musical life of Armagh and beyond, noting that while she hailed from Donegal, she made Armagh her home. He added that Eithne was not only a wife and mother but also a mentor to thousands who learned to play and appreciate traditional music through her influence. Condolences have been extended to her family and all those who had the pleasure of sharing music with her.
