İş Bankası CEO Hakan Aran to Resign; Deputy CEO Çınar to Take Over

Hakan Aran, the chief executive of İş Bankası, has decided to step down before his term concludes, marking a significant leadership transition for one of Turkey's largest banks. Aran will officially depart his role on August 31, 2026.

His successor will be Hasan Cahit Çınar, who currently serves as deputy CEO. Çınar is expected to assume the responsibilities of the general manager position starting September 1, 2026, contingent upon receiving the necessary approvals from the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK).

İş Bankası stated that this leadership change is part of its vision for its second century. The bank aims to boost competitiveness and efficiency across its banking, finance, and industrial sectors. It also seeks to capitalize on the opportunities presented by the artificial intelligence era. During Aran's tenure, the bank focused on significant investments in platform banking, AI, technological infrastructure, and organizational transformation.

Aran will move on to chair the board of directors at Türkiye Şişe ve Cam Fabrikaları AŞ (Şişecam), a global glass manufacturing company with operations across four continents and exports to over 150 countries. Meanwhile, İş Bankası Chairman Adnan Bali will continue in his role. The bank highlighted Çınar's extensive 35-year banking career, noting his significant experience in areas such as credit, capital markets, project finance, and subsidiary management.
