Israel claims credit for ICC prosecutor Karim Khan's revocation

Israel has not hesitated to claim credit for the revocation of Karim Khan, the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC). Following the decision on Friday, Israeli officials expressed their satisfaction, with some even attributing the prosecutor's downfall to their efforts.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is himself under an ICC arrest warrant for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity, stated, "What has been brought to light is not only the true motivation of Karim Khan, but also the deep injustice and corruption that has plagued both the Prosecutor's Office and the International Criminal Court itself."

The revocation was decided in New York by a large majority of ICC member states (82 out of 125). These nations determined that Karim Khan had committed "grave misconduct" concerning his assistant, with whom he is accused of having an "inappropriate sexual relationship."

However, according to several Israeli media outlets citing anonymous sources, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar allegedly played an active role in the efforts to oust the prosecutor. A working group was reportedly formed to persuade embassies through "intensive diplomatic efforts."
