Israel Continues Attacks in Southern Lebanon Amid Ceasefire

Israeli forces launched a new wave of attacks across southern Lebanon early Sunday, including airstrikes, artillery shelling, and explosions. These actions continue despite an existing ceasefire agreement, with reports indicating a pattern of repeated targeting of villages and surrounding hills.

Lebanese media reported that Israeli fighter jets struck the Ali al-Taher highlands and nearby areas, while other airstrikes hit regions near the al-Dabsha plateau. Concurrently, Israeli artillery targeted areas around Ali al-Taher and al-Dabsha, with additional shelling hitting the town of al-Mansouri. Israeli forces also carried out two explosions in the southern Lebanese towns of Hadatha and Taybeh.

The ongoing military operations have included airstrikes by fighter jets and drones, artillery fire, and the destruction of homes and infrastructure using bulldozers. Agricultural land has also been set ablaze. The Ali al-Taher highlands have been a particularly contested area in recent days, with repeated Israeli strikes on the strategic position and its surroundings.

These continued attacks occur amidst ongoing negotiations between Lebanon and Israel regarding security arrangements and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory. The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health released updated casualty figures, stating that between March 2 and August 21, 2026, 4,348 people were killed and 12,307 injured during the latest expansion of Israeli military operations. The cumulative toll since October 8, 2023, now stands at 8,915 dead and 30,543 injured.
