Israel, Jordan Intercept Iranian Missile Aimed at Aqaba

Israeli and Jordanian forces successfully intercepted an Iranian missile that was heading towards the Jordanian city of Aqaba on Sunday. The Israeli military confirmed the joint interception, which occurred after the detection of missiles launched from Iran and warnings of possible "spillover" into Israeli territory.

The Jordanian military reported downing three Iranian missiles targeting the kingdom, with a fourth landing in a deserted area. Air raid sirens sounded in the capital, Amman, and other parts of the country. The Israeli military subsequently launched interceptors to mitigate potential debris impact near Eilat, reporting no damage or injuries.

Earlier, the Jordanian government refuted claims that Aqaba's airport and seaport were evacuated due to a credible threat, as stated by the U.S. embassy. Jordanian government spokesman Mohammad al-Momani asserted that both facilities were operating normally. This incident follows a U.S. military announcement of two service members killed and one missing in Jordan after Iranian strikes.
