Israel launches fresh strikes on southern Lebanon

Israel launched fresh strikes in southern Lebanon after its military said Hezbollah sent two drones toward Israeli soldiers operating in the border area.

The Israeli military said no Israeli soldiers were wounded. It called the drone launch a “blatant violation” and said the Israel Defense Forces were striking southern Lebanon in response.

In a separate Arabic-language message on Telegram, the military warned residents of Arab Salim to evacuate before what it described as imminent attacks. The warning said residents were near a facility belonging to Hezbollah, which the IDF planned to target.

Terrorists from the Hezbollah terrorist organisation launched two drones towards IDF soldiers operating in the Security Zone in southern Lebanon.

Lebanon was drawn into the wider Middle East war in March after Hezbollah, backed by Iran, attacked Israel. Israel responded with airstrikes and a ground invasion, which Lebanon says has killed more than 4,300 people.

Violence has declined since a US-Iran memorandum of understanding on the broader conflict in June and a framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon later that month. Israeli forces, however, continue to operate inside a self-declared security zone extending about 10 kilometres into Lebanon along the border.

Lebanese authorities said Israeli strikes killed four people in southern and eastern parts of the country the previous day.
