Israel must approve disarmament agreement before Hamas will implement, says Hamas official

A senior Hamas official has stated that any new peace deal for Gaza, announced by U.S. President Donald Trump, hinges on Israel first meeting its obligations under an agreement reached last year. Ghazi Hamad, a Hamas official involved in negotiations, told Reuters that the new framework is comprehensive and requires Israel to end its attacks in Gaza and withdraw forces to their October positions.

Hamad also emphasized that Israel must increase the flow of goods and aid into the besieged enclave. He indicated that only after Israel fulfills these conditions will Hamas agree to hand over its weapons to the newly established National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), a technocratic body tasked with governing the territory.
