Israel ready for large-scale attack on Iran

Israel is preparing for the possibility that Iran could attack during the major Jewish holiday season beginning in mid-September, Defense Minister Israel Katz said Wednesday.

Speaking at a conference organized by Israeli news site Ynet and the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, Katz said Iran had so far attacked targets across the region but not Israel itself. “For now, they are attacking throughout the region except us,” he said. “However, there is a possibility that they will attack us. We are prepared to deal with it defensively.”

Katz warned that Israel would respond with overwhelming force if Iran launched an attack. He said Israel would not depend on any other party and added that Israeli military aircraft were already ready to take off.

Israel began fighting alongside the United States in West Asia at the end of February, according to the report. It stopped taking part militarily after U.S. President Donald Trump concluded a ceasefire agreement in April, although the truce later failed to hold.
