Israeli drone attack kills 2 in Lebanon after ceasefire takes effect

An Israeli drone strike killed two individuals in southern Lebanon late on August 19, just hours after a ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel was supposed to take effect. The NNA stated that the drone attack occurred around 4 p.m. local time, following the 4 p.m. activation of the truce. Despite the ceasefire, tensions remained high in the region, with a mix of caution and anticipation reported in areas like Tyre and Bint Jbeil, as well as near the Israeli-occupied territories. United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) patrols were observed along the route from Tyre to Naqoura, but these patrols did not report the presence of Israeli drones at the time of the incident. The incident raises questions about the adherence to the ceasefire and the ongoing security situation in the region.
