Israeli Forces Kill Palestinian Man in Jenin After Alleged Stabbing Attempt

The Israeli military announced Friday that its forces shot and killed a Palestinian man in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin, labeling him a "terrorist" who allegedly attempted to stab a soldier. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that soldiers responded to the alleged knife attack by firing at the assailant, resulting in his death.

The IDF released a statement via Telegram asserting that none of their soldiers were injured during the operation. However, Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that a 14-year-old boy sustained gunshot wounds to the chest during the same Israeli incursion into Jenin and was taken to the hospital, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.

This incident follows a series of escalations in the region. Just a day prior, Israeli settler militias reportedly injured at least six Palestinians, some with knives, in a West Bank village near Ramallah. The Palestinian Red Crescent confirmed these injuries required hospitalization.

Adding to the tensions, the Israeli government announced a new tender for the construction of 1,234 housing units as part of the controversial 'E1 plan'. This project aims to bisect the northern and southern West Bank and isolate East Jerusalem, encompassing 1,200 hectares of land where several Palestinian Bedouin communities reside.
