Israeli forces kill two men in Gaza car attack, one a UN professor

Israeli forces killed two men in an attack on a civilian vehicle at the entrance of Al Zahra city, northeast of the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital reported. The hospital later identified the victims as Raed al Omsi, 34, and Nabhan al Omsi, 53, the latter being a professor for the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA).

This attack is the latest in a series of Israeli bombings that have claimed entire families in Gaza in recent days, despite a ceasefire in effect since October 2025. Earlier this week, the army killed a couple and their four young children in a drone strike on their home in Gaza City. Last Saturday, five members of another family, including three minors, were killed in a similar attack.

In both instances, the army acknowledged the bombings, claiming they targeted alleged Hamas members. Since the truce began, Israel has killed over 1,150 people in Gaza, according to the enclave's Ministry of Health. The ministry states that the total death toll since October 2023 has reached nearly 73,300.
