Israeli Forces Shell, Infiltrate Southern Lebanon

Israeli forces launched a ground incursion into the northern edges of the town of Mays al-Jabal in southern Lebanon on Saturday, August 8, 2026. Simultaneously, Israeli artillery targeted the town of Mansouri, with shelling striking a house and accompanied by machine-gun fire, according to reports from the official Lebanese National News Agency.

This incursion and shelling occurred amidst ongoing tensions along the border. The Lebanese agency reported continuous Israeli artillery bombardment on Mansouri. Earlier, overnight Friday into Saturday, an Israeli army unit had advanced towards Zawtar al-Gharbiya, constructing a new earthen barrier in the town's vicinity, marking a further violation of the 'experimental zone agreement'.

From midnight Friday through Saturday morning, Israeli artillery also shelled forested areas and the Ali al-Taher heights on the outskirts of Nabatieh al-Fawqa, as well as the area between Dweikah Kafr Kila and Tallet al-Dabcha in southern Lebanon. Furthermore, Israeli forces shelled the vicinity of Mansouri early Saturday morning, causing damage to several homes.

Adding to the heightened military activity, Israeli warplanes were observed conducting low-altitude flights over the central and western sectors of southern Lebanon on Saturday morning. These actions indicate a significant escalation of military operations in the region.
