Israeli Minister Calls for Airstrikes on West Bank After Deadly Shooting

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir urged airstrikes on Palestinian territories in the occupied West Bank following a shooting that killed four Palestinians and one Israeli near Nablus on Friday. Ben Gvir, a far-right minister and settler, called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to order the Israeli military to "destroy from the air the homes of terrorists and their supporters."

I am addressing the Prime Minister for a brief cabinet meeting, where I will demand that he order the IDF (Israeli Army) to destroy from the air the homes of terrorists and their supporters, and demand the terrorists pay the price they deserve.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Ben Gvir stated, "For every Jew murdered, the enemy must suffer the loss of land and homes." He asserted that the language spoken in the Middle East requires such actions, suggesting it's time to apply the same approach in Judea and Samaria (the occupied West Bank) as was done in Gaza.

Earlier, Netanyahu's office announced a forthcoming meeting with the defense minister and the chief of staff to discuss responses to the "murderous attack." The statement affirmed, "We will act strongly against terrorists and their messengers and will not allow terrorism in Judea and Samaria to raise its head."

This is the language spoken in the Middle East, and just as we speak it in Gaza, it is time to speak it also in Judea and Samaria.

The shooting occurred in the village of Tell, southwest of Nablus. The Israeli military claimed Palestinians stole a security guard's weapon and fired on Israeli civilians. Palestinian authorities, however, stated that four West Bank residents were killed by occupation forces during an attack by Israeli settlers. They alleged that settlers opened fire indiscriminately on residents before the military arrived, killing four young Palestinians, including cousins, and wounding four others. Israeli emergency services reported the deceased Israeli was a 30-year-old man and that two others were evacuated by helicopter with gunshot wounds.
