Israeli strike hits Gaza refugee tents, killing eight Palestinians

At least eight Palestinians were killed and 15 others injured when an Israeli airstrike struck refugee tents in the Al-Rimal neighborhood, west of Gaza City, on Saturday evening. The attack targeted a shelter for displaced people in the Al-Jawazat area, with most of the casualties being children who had fled ongoing Israeli military aggression.

Local sources reported that the explosions destroyed several tents and caused extensive damage to the refugee camp. Ambulance teams and civil defense personnel worked to evacuate victims and search for others at the site. The injured were transported to Al-Shifa Hospital for medical treatment. As of Saturday night, rescue operations were still underway.

This latest strike occurred while Israeli military operations continue across various parts of the Gaza Strip. It adds to a long list of alleged violations of previously announced ceasefire agreements. Despite international efforts to halt the fighting and facilitate humanitarian aid access, Israel has maintained its aerial and ground operations.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that the death toll from Israeli aggression since October 7, 2023, has reached 72,961, with 173,092 others injured, the majority being civilians, including women and children. International humanitarian organizations have repeatedly warned that attacks on refugee camps and civilian areas exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in the region, where thousands of Palestinian families live in makeshift tents after their homes were destroyed.
