Istanbul faces continued heatwave, AKOM issues weather warning

Istanbul is bracing for continued summer heat as the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) issued a new weather advisory. Residents can expect daytime temperatures to climb to 30°C on Wednesday, with cooler evenings and nights. Humidity levels are predicted to fluctuate between 40% and 80% throughout the day, while the sea temperature remains at a pleasant 24°C.

AKOM officials forecast sunny skies for most of the week, with no precipitation expected. Despite the prevailing sunshine, cooling breezes from the north-east, known as Poyraz, are anticipated to offer some relief. However, the advisory warns that temperatures are likely to persist in the 30-33°C range for the upcoming week, indicating a sustained period of warm weather.

The weekly forecast table provided by AKOM outlines expected temperatures from Thursday, July 16, to Tuesday, July 22. Daily highs are projected to hover around 30-31°C, with lows in the low 20s Celsius. This consistent pattern suggests that Istanbul will remain under the influence of summer heat for the foreseeable future, with clear skies dominating the weather landscape.
