Istanbul Faces Heatwave with Temperatures Reaching 33 Degrees Celsius

Istanbul is bracing for a week of high temperatures, with forecasts indicating that thermometers could reach 33 degrees Celsius, according to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM).

Despite the anticipated cooling effect of the northwesterly wind, known locally as 'poyraz,' which is expected to blow intermittently at speeds of 20-50 km/h, temperatures are projected to remain in the 30-33 degree Celsius range. AKOM's report for August 4, 2026, predicts a daily high of 33°C during the afternoon, dropping to around 24°C in the evening and 22°C at night. Humidity levels are expected to range between 40% and 85%, with the sea temperature measured at 22°C.

No rainfall is expected throughout the week, and the skies are predicted to be mostly sunny. This clear weather pattern is set to continue into the following week, according to AKOM's weekly forecast for August 5-10.
