Istanbul Faces Strong Winds and Storm Warning for Saturday

Istanbul's Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) has issued a warning for strong winds and potential storms expected to affect the city starting Saturday, August 1st. The forecast indicates that winds from the north, known locally as 'poyraz,' could intensify significantly, reaching speeds of 40 to 60 kilometers per hour and occasionally developing into storm-force conditions.

Despite the expected strong winds, the weather across Istanbul is predicted to be mostly sunny throughout the week, with no significant rainfall anticipated. Temperatures are expected to be relatively warm, with daytime highs reaching up to 29 degrees Celsius and dropping to around 20 degrees Celsius at night. Humidity levels are forecast to fluctuate between 50% and 80% during the day, while the sea temperature has been measured at 24 degrees Celsius.

The strong northerly winds are expected to keep temperatures in the range of 28-30 degrees Celsius until the beginning of the following week. Looking ahead, the forecast for Sunday and Monday suggests clear to partly cloudy skies. By Tuesday and Wednesday, temperatures are projected to rise further, potentially reaching 32-33 degrees Celsius, before returning to partly cloudy conditions for the remainder of the week.
