Istanbul Governor Warns of Rain and Storms on Friday

Istanbul is bracing for a significant shift in weather as the Governor's Office issued a warning for rain and storms on Friday. The announcement, based on the latest assessments from the General Directorate of Meteorology, signals an end to the recent oppressive heatwave.

The warning indicates that a rainy system will affect the city starting Friday morning. Alongside the precipitation, strong winds are also anticipated, with speeds expected to reach 40-60 km/h on Friday and 30-50 km/h on Saturday. Temperatures are forecast to drop sharply, falling 4 to 6 degrees Celsius below seasonal averages starting Thursday.

The wet and stormy conditions are expected to persist through Saturday evening before the system departs. Following the rainfall, temperatures are predicted to rise again by Monday, returning to seasonal norms. This forecast marks a notable change from the current high humidity levels, which have contributed to the recent uncomfortable heat.
