Istanbul Modern's collection exhibition 'Under the Same Blue' to open Sept. 8

Istanbul Modern is set to unveil its 10th collection exhibition, titled "Aynı Mavinin Altında" (Under the Same Blue), on September 8. The exhibition promises a journey through the development of modern and contemporary Turkish art, tracing its trajectory from the 1940s to the present day.

Drawing inspiration from the color blue, which evokes seas, horizons, dreams, and freedom, the exhibition will span multiple floors of the museum. It aims to showcase the transformation of Turkish art while also highlighting the dialogues established with international artists' works since the 2000s, offering new perspectives on the museum's collection.

The exhibition is divided into two main sections. The first part focuses on the evolution of art and aesthetic approaches in Turkey from the 1940s to 2000. The second section delves into artistic productions from the 2000s onwards, featuring a diverse range of media including painting, video, photography, sculpture, and installations. This part will also address contemporary issues such as identity, urbanism, migration, memory, and nature through the artworks.

Co-curated by Çelenk Bafra and Deniz Pehlivaner, "Under the Same Blue" will be accessible to visitors at Istanbul Modern until December 31, 2027. The exhibition is expected to offer a comprehensive look at the rich landscape of Turkish and international art within the museum's collection.
