Italian Democratic Party Collects 36,000 Euros Through Donations

The Democratic Party (Pd) in the city has amassed a significant "nest egg" of 36,000 euros in donations for 2025, a sum that is equally divided with the provincial federation. This financial boost comes from a combination of mandatory contributions from elected officials and voluntary donations from party supporters and individuals appointed to public companies.

Elected officials adhere to a provincial pact requiring them to contribute 10% of their net income. For city councilors, this amounts to approximately 80 euros per quarter, while assessors contribute around 300 euros monthly. Beyond the formal contributions from elected members, the party also benefits from voluntary donations. Appointees in public companies, unlike elected officials, are not bound by a specific regulation. Cammarata noted that many of these appointees are not even party members, yet they participate through a "gentlemen's agreement" and a "solidarity custom." This spontaneous adherence is seen as a manifestation of the community's democratic values.

Cammarata shared an anecdote about Michela Tiboni, a recent city assessor who, upon joining the Pd, immediately inquired about the bank details to make her monthly contribution, which she now does regularly. This demonstrates a shared commitment to supporting the party's financial stability.
