Italian Carabinieri have uncovered an exceptionally sophisticated underground bunker in Ardore, located in the Reggio Calabria region of southern Italy. The discovery was made during an operation initially focused on locating illegal weapons, but it evolved into the identification of a complex and clandestine structure.

Authorities described the bunker as a "highly organized and sophisticated construction" with meticulous attention to detail and technological advancement. It was designed to be nearly undetectable, featuring multiple distinct sections. Among these were living quarters, including a bedroom and a bathroom, and a central "escape chamber."

From this escape chamber, a secret tunnel approximately 120 meters long extended deep underground, providing a discreet exit route to a rural area, thus evading detection. Access to the tunnel was concealed by a reinforced concrete hatch, invisible from the surface, which operated via a hidden, high-precision electric mechanism.

Investigators believe this bunker represents one of the most advanced illegal installations ever discovered in the Locri area, citing its complex layout and hidden access systems. The operation required significant resources and coordination between various police units and the fire department.
