Itsekiri Youths Back Call for Political Overhaul, Oppose Speaker's Return

The Itsekiri Youths for Good Governance (IYGG) stands in solidarity with the Itsekiri Grassroots Coalition (IGC), echoing their strong call for a fundamental shift in political representation. Our organization believes that the current leadership, specifically Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas and Chief Thomas Ereyitomi, has gravely failed the people of the Delta South Senatorial District and the Warri Federal Constituency. Their tenure has been marked by a lack of visible impact and a disregard for the welfare of their constituents, betraying the trust placed in them.

As an organization deeply committed to the principles of good governance, IYGG asserts that the Itsekiri people deserve competent and responsive representation. We align with the IGC's National Coordinator, Prince Collins Oritsetimeyin Edema, in demanding accountability. Leaders who fall short of expectations must be replaced by individuals who possess the capability and dedication to truly serve the people. This is not merely a political stance; it is a demand for the justification of leadership positions through tangible progress and unwavering commitment to the common good.

Furthermore, IYGG addresses the broader political landscape, endorsing Prince Edema's call for the Ijaw political bloc to present more suitable candidates in future elections if they expect the support of the Itsekiri people. We also unequivocally condemn the performance of the current Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Emomotimi Guwor. His failure to champion legislation that fosters peace, unity, and inclusiveness across local government areas is unacceptable. IYGG will actively resist any attempts to reinstate Guwor, as the interests of the Itsekiri people must always take precedence.

We urge all Itsekiri people, both at home and in the diaspora, to unite. Let us rally behind credible candidates who genuinely understand and champion the aspirations and struggles of the Itsekiri nation and Warri at large.
