Iván Zamorano backs Darío Osorio’s Crystal Palace move: “Reaching the Premier League is not easy”

Darío Osorio’s move to Crystal Palace has drawn plenty of attention in Chile, including praise from Iván Zamorano, one of La Roja’s most celebrated former strikers.

After spending three years in Denmark at Midtjylland, this is a very important step in his reinvention. It is a much more dynamic and demanding football, and that will do him and the national team good.

Speaking at a sporting event in Santiago, the former Real Madrid player described the transfer as an important stage in Osorio’s reinvention after three years in Denmark with Midtjylland. He said the Premier League’s faster and more demanding football could help the 22-year-old develop and benefit the national team.

Zamorano also saw echoes of his own career in Osorio’s route. He recalled moving first to St. Gallen, then Sevilla, before earning the chance to play for Real Madrid. In his view, Osorio is following the right sequence, taking the steps needed to keep growing and evolving.

“Reaching the Premier League is not easy,” Zamorano said, while expressing hope that Crystal Palace would be a positive move for the young Chilean. He added that Osorio has considerable potential at only 22.
